It may or may not be a really "grande pour discuter de" topic but is worth discussing.
India's education system is really complex and in some sense outdated, obsolete and what not...
India has learnt many things from Union Soviet at the time of late 70s etc like revolution, workers union, demolition of capitalism as it is a system that does injustice to workers..Vande Mataram,Ardharatri Swatantram,Yerra Sainyam,Lal Salaam and what not.....
But eventually failed to learn the most imporatnt and crucial stuff..guess what???
Technical education at the school stage, the students of the Union Soviet used to solve calculus at the school stage at that "we havent got any IT" timeperiod and still "Brand Indian" students learn calculus at the stage of senior secondary stage..In CBSE that too in low grade stage...
Thanks to these bon à rien, moneymaking tyrants and "we only want votes" politicians who had made the system more and more complex....
By the entrance of politicians into education, the system has improved to the level that SC/ST certificate matters more than your rank in competitive exams....
Dont worry as after some years the system might improve or might get still worse that the baby born will be handed his engineering degree saying that "congrats boy, thank your parents..not for giving you birth but for making you born in some "we need reservation" community....
As we see the boards here...
Lets get into the Andhra board. Its some board that makes the students get no less than 90%.Thanks to these "barbarian study circle" residential school where they just mug up the students but atleast make them get decent percentages but whats the actual significance when the value of the education system has lost and people now that its the result of mugging...
But think by getting no less than 90%,the education system has reached to the ultimate heights in the terms of excellence or might be has declined to the levels of creative destruction...
That was Andhra but the worse is the Bihar board...
Guess what?In Bihar board..you dont have to go to school, even in senior secondary stage, just bribe the master...Its done.Just enjoy or fly away to the educational cities for the coaching of the "India's top institute in learning" exam....and the most important thing is...
No matter if you study there or not...You can even buy an SC/ST certificate by bribing the concerned ministry...Some might even issue the certificate over a cup of coffee and a samosa...
But still India is some country that creates top notch technocrats like Sabeer Bhatia,Ashok Maliakal and many others who just make technology their playground.
But if the system was more supportive, they might have did it in their teens.....
Its still question de la confusion that teachers in many schools follow the curriculum blindly that the creativity of the student is diminished by the senior secondary stage that either he gets frustated or the teachers and parents dont support the student...and also the residential school which plays an important role in hampering the progress.....
But its the fact that parents are much concerned about student's(their offspring..guess that so scientific) involvement in the extra curricular activities, creativity,IQ and what not..But eventually fear about the result.Thats the factor that makes them encourage or ruin the students creativity.....
For the matter of fact, still there are parents who say senior secondary students to study which really isnt the stage to tell....
For example,if a student starts programming at the age of 9,the parents who think he is getting spoiled are more in India than them who think that my son is going to be the next Bill Gates,Steve Jobs,Larry Page who is going to set up next Microsoft,Apple Inc,Google Inc(lucky i am coz my parents are like that)

If you think the school educational system is pathetic ..College educational system is traumatic ...Its worse there
ReplyDeletehey, from a country of 1 billion, one sabeer bhatia is sure to come... compare us with a country like australia, whose population is small yet a large quantity of ppl make their marks internationally. I really see that school system has nothing for future. You really need to join institutes for getting gud quality education. If the same teachers are appointed in school's too, there should be no problems with us... this SC/ST nonsense...that's taking our country no where...a SC guy who studies in Delhi public school is much better both financially and socially that a general category guy from govt. school. Still he gets advantage of being an SC... I think government should strictly and wisely define a SC, ST and OBC...
ReplyDeleteI really liked this article and the style of representation of the true situation happening in India and also agree with the comments posted before but its our responsibility to change the government and transform the country.I agree that a person studying in elite schools must not use his advantage of being an scheduled caste and the whole system has to be reconsidered as per the merit basis of a fellow who is opting for eduction in this country. If we see the situation its clearly visible that many of the medical and engineering colleges are filled with the kinds of people Vignesh has mentioned at the last. But we are the citizens of this country and its ou responsiblity to change the system and get merit equality.
